How we clean your gutters
For most homes we use ladders and gutter vacuums to clear the whole run, and check the downpipes as we go. Where a ladder isn’t safe, we use a drone survey to inspect the roof edge and bring in cherry picker access if needed. A typical home takes around [2 to 4 hours], depending on size and how blocked the gutters are.
What blocked gutters cause:
Cumbria gets some of the heaviest rainfall in England, so your gutters have plenty of work to do. When they clog with leaves, moss and silt, the water has nowhere to go, and the damage tends to build quietly until it shows up inside the house.
Damp and staining
Overflowing water runs down your walls, leaving green streaks and damp patches that can work their way indoors.
Rotten fascias and soffits
Constant wetting damages the boards under your roof edge, and replacing them costs far more than a gutter clean.
Sagging and broken gutters
Wet debris is heavy, and it can pull gutters out of line or snap brackets.
Moss and weeds:
Seeds and moss take root in the muck, blocking downpipes and spreading to the roof.
Pests
Birds, wasps and rodents nest in blocked gutters and downpipes.
Winter damage:
Water trapped in a blocked gutter freezes, and the ice can crack joints and stress the fixings.
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Cumbria?
Getting a price is quick and easy. Just send us your address and we’ll carry out a survey of your property using Google Maps, then give you a free, no-obligation quote. You’ll know exactly what it costs before we book you in.
How often should gutters be cleaned?
At least twice a year, ideally in spring and autumn, and more often if trees overhang the roof.
Should I clean my gutters myself or hire a professional?
DIY is possible, but working at height is risky and it’s easy to miss blocked downpipes. A professional clears the whole system safely and spots problems early.
How long does it take?
Most homes take around 2 to 4 hours.
Can gutters be cleaned without a ladder?
For very tall or awkward buildings we can use cherry picker access and drone surveys instead of a ladder.
Do you repair gutters as well?
Yes, we fix leaks, sagging gutters and damaged sections.
Why do downpipes matter?
They carry water away from your home. If they block, water backs up and can leak into walls and foundations.
What is fascia and soffit cleaning, and why does it matter?
Fascias and soffits are the boards and panels along the roof edge. Cleaning them helps stop mould and rot, and keeps the exterior looking good.
Is guttering covered by house insurance?
It depends on the policy. Insurers usually cover storm damage but not damage from poor maintenance, so check your policy wording or ask your insurer.
